Flat roof leaking again? Convert it to a sloped metal roof.
We turn worn flat and foam roofs into sloped metal roofs — framed, sealed and finished in standing seam or R-panel, so monsoon water runs off instead of sitting.
The problem
Why flat roofs give out in El Paso.
- The sun wears the surface down
Foam, coatings and roll roofing break down under our UV and have to be recoated to keep working.
- Monsoon water has nowhere to go
A flat roof drains slowly. Water that sits after a storm finds every crack and seam.
- Patch, recoat, repeat
Most flat roofs get patched year after year. A sloped metal roof is built to shed water instead.
What a conversion includes
From flat to sloped, in six steps.
Inspect the roof and the structure
We walk the roof, check the deck and the walls it sits on, and see where water goes today. Photos of everything.
Plan the slope and pull the permit
Changing a roof's shape is structural work, so it needs a permit and inspections. We plan the slope and handle the permit.
Build the slope
New framing and decking — over the old roof or after tearing it off, depending on what we find — sloped at least 3:12 for metal.
Seal the whole roof
Self-sealing waterproof membrane over the entire new deck before any metal goes on.
Metal and trim
Standing seam or R-panel, then color-matched ridge, rake and edge trim, and flashing where the new roof meets walls and parapets.
Clean up and walk it
Daily cleanup, a magnet sweep of the yard and driveway, and a final walk of the roof with you.
Flat vs sloped metal
What changes when the roof gets a slope.
| Feature | Flat roof | Sloped metal roof |
|---|---|---|
| Rain | Drains slowly; water can sit after a storm | Runs off the slope |
| Sun | Coatings break down and need redoing | Reflective finishes available; per the EPA, cool roofs can cut peak cooling demand 11–27% |
| Upkeep | Regular patching and recoating | Standing seam has no exposed screws; on R-panel, check the screws over the years |
| Look | Flat, hidden behind the parapet | A pitched roof in the color you choose |
Results depend on the roof, the framing and the system chosen.
FAQ
Common questions
Don't see yours? Call us — we're happy to talk it through.
Can you put metal straight on my flat roof?
Not our standing seam or R-panel. Both need a slope of at least 3:12, so we build the slope first.
Will my house look different?
Yes — a sloped roof shows from the street. Before we price it, we go over which way the slope runs, the color, and how it meets your parapets.
Do you pull the permit?
Yes. Changing a roof's shape needs a permit and inspections, and we take care of both.
Do you do this on commercial buildings?
Yes, on homes and commercial buildings. For bids, send us the plans and the bid date.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the roof, the framing and the color you choose. You get a timeline with the written quote.
